I got a new premium membership at the gym and tanning was included in the package. I had never been tanning before and was planning a beach trip soon so, I figured I would try it out. I went to the front desk and told the guy behind the counter that I wanted to try it out but I had never done it before. He recommended I just try maybe 10 minutes and assigned me a booth number. I left the desk and went to where the booths were, they were stand-up booths and, like I said, I had no idea what I was doing.

I opened the door and walked into a very tight spaced room that locked and I undressed and tried to figure out how it worked. I looked around for buttons or switches but I couldn’t find anything. I thought well maybe he turned it on already, maybe this was it. I thought it was pretty dark in there for a tanning bed but what do I know? I stayed in the room and put my arms up and spun around and was waiting for it to be done. I was like, “how do I know when it is done? Is a timer going to go off…?

I stayed in there for what seemed like 30 minutes… I finally told myself I had better get out it has to have been over 10 minutes by now. I got dressed and stepped out of the booth and sat down to finish putting my shoes back on. I was so confused. Then I looked up at the tanning booth room I just came out of. It was connected to another room….

OH MY GOSH….

I had just stood in the changing room the whole time! I never even went into the actual tanning bed! I was so embarrassed, the guy at the front desk was probably wondering what the hell I was doing in there so long I never even turned it on. I couldn’t even bring myself to go back in and try it again, I just left the gym and hoped I never saw that guy behind the desk again.
